Heidi Laug, LCPC

Back to all Staff

I’m Heidi Laug and I earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling in 2008 from Western Michigan University. After graduation, I worked for a year as a K8 school counselor in a rural Montana community before moving to Bozeman in 2010. I then worked for a Comprehensive School and Community Treatment program in two elementary schools for four years. In 2014, I started working part-time for the nCenter in Belgrade. During that time, I switched to a different counseling position in the Bozeman School District working as a Safe-ti (School and Family Engagement – Trauma Informed) therapist at both the elementary and middle school levels.

My theoretical orientation is person-centered therapy focusing on strong interpersonal relationships that promote a sense of safety and acceptance. I work to understand the needs of individuals and support them to recognize their strengths and ways to empower themselves. Together, we look at how life circumstances affect us and our potential to grow and learn from adversity. We explore emotions and the importance of finding healthy strategies for managing them through honest communication, creative outlets, and activities that promote self-awareness and resilience.

I enjoy connecting with adolescents and their parents to support them in cultivating positive life skills and relationships. I work to remain open-minded to my clients’ experiences while providing them with the best evidence-based practices available. At the nCenter, we pair counseling with neurotherapy to support the client’s ability to make meaningful, lasting changes.

I find fulfillment in helping clients identify stumbling blocks and explore constructive ways of navigating them. In my spare time, I enjoy travel, hiking, photography and spending time with friends and family. I also love animals, the outdoors, and a good cup of coffee.
