My name is Ruth Story, I am a licensed clinical professional counselor with the state of Montana and I joined the Belgrade nCenter in 2016.
I have been working as a professional counselor since 2009, having earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from MSU Bozeman. I trained in Bowen family systems theory because I have always had an appreciation for the roles we play in our families of origin and how that translates into our current relationships. I seek to provide gentle guidance to help family members relate to each other in more helpful, kind, and dignity-promoting ways.
I am also trained in emotionally focused therapy (EFT). I believe EFT can bring a level of emotional resolution to relationships that is deeply healing. Before I came to the nCenter, I worked with adults at the Human Development Clinic at MSU Bozeman and with youth and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. As an inpatient therapist at Acadia Montana, I had the opportunity to work with teens and their families to promote recovery from traumatic life situations and to assist with reintegration into their homes, families, and communities.
I also worked as a C.S.C.T. (Comprehensive School and Community Treatment) therapist in a school setting for 6 years. Working with youth in grades 6-12, I was able to assist children and their families with crisis management as well as help them attain better social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills so that they could learn to manage and navigate difficult situations.
