Kyra Lauer, MSW, SWLC

Back to all Staff

My name is Kyra Lauer, MSW, SWLC.  I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Montana State University in Bozeman, and I have a Master of Social Work from Boise State University. Having lived my whole life in Montana, I have a love and appreciation for the beautiful state we live in.

My professional experience includes working as a crisis counselor at the Bozeman Help Center. There I assisted clients to ground themselves and to find the help they needed.  I have also worked with adults in the jail system, helping inmates earn their GED and learn the life skills necessary for life outside the jail. I worked at Youth Dynamics as a part of a treatment team that served children and teens who have mental health issues.  And I held a position at the Gallatin County Detention Center as a mental health counselor with adults often overwhelmed by trauma, crisis and addiction.

My aim is to be approachable and understanding with each client and to assist them in reaching their full potential. Even with past trauma, it is my experience that each client knows best who they are and what they need.  I support that.

I have worked with every age– children, pre-teens, teenagers, adults and senior adults around the issues of trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships and life transitions. The therapeutic modalities I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Crisis/Trauma Intervention, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I have trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention, and I am working on certifications in Play Therapy and EMDR.

As a counselor at the nCenter clinic, I am a part of a team of professionals that provides an integrative approach to mental health.  Please give me a call if you would like to explore the possibility of starting therapy.  I look forward to hearing from you.
